Fun Fact!

Where are the springs in Colorado Springs? They’re actually in the Westside incorporated town of Manitou Springs, which is home to eight natural mineral springs. Colorado Springs drew its name from the broader area. It’s one wasn’t naturally occurring spring, Tahama Spring, was located in the downtown Monument Valley Park.  Sadly, it was damaged in 1935 by flooding in nearby Monument Creek then buried by a catastrophic flood in 1965. Tahama Springs still exists beneath the park Monument Valley Park.

The Weather

🌤️ Weekend Weather Vibe: Colorado Springs

Hey everyone — this is my favorite kind of weather! Get ready for a perfect Colorado weekend! Here’s what Mother Nature has in store:

  • Friday & Saturday are going to be picture-perfect. Lots of sunshine (maybe a few fluffy clouds), with highs in the upper 70s°F (~25°C). Warm afternoons, crisp mornings — ideal for anything outdoors.

  • Sunday brings mostly sunny skies, but keep an umbrella handy just in case — a passing shower could surprise us. Still warm, though; highs will stay in the upper 70s.

  • Temps overnight will dip into the low 50s°F (~11°C) — so layers are going to be your friend. Mornings and evenings = sweater weather vibes.

Restaurants worth giving a shot!

1. Roots CafeMenu

It doesn’t get much more hole in the wall than this place! 🌺 A Taste of the Islands in Downtown COS

It doesn’t get much more hole-in-the-wall than this spot — no website, no frills, just delicious Hawaiian comfort food. The Kalua Pig Plate, Mac Salad, and Kale Rib Plate were absolute standouts!

Tucked at 330 E Colorado Ave, this casual eatery dishes out family-style favorites like crispy katsu chicken, savory pork, and fresh shrimp, all served up by a super friendly staff.

With outdoor seating and a relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to enjoy good food with friends or family. Just a heads-up: they don’t take reservations, so get there early to snag a table.

2. Felipes 109 “Home of the Taco Burger | Menu

(4.5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️  Out of 920 Google Reviews)

Please give this place a try, you won’t regret it! My favorite is the Jalapeño Burger! A family-run, fast‑casual spot specializing in inventive comfort food—combining classic burgers served in crisp taco shells (“Taco Burgers”), hearty chili, and flavorful tacos. Their tagline: “Burgers for the mind, Tacos for the heart, and Chili for the soul.”

3. Lebowski’s | Menu

(4.8 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Out of 602 Google Reviews)

Had the chance to swing by and try Lebowski’s this past week — and wow, The Walter did not disappoint!
It sounds wild, but trust me: their classic burger topped with creamy peanut butter and jalapeño jam is a flavor combo you didn’t know you needed. 🔥🍔 A bold move… but absolutely worth the bite. Give it a shot — you might just find your new favorite.

I also had the chance to meet one of the owners — super friendly and passionate about the place. Bonus: they host bingo night on Mondays and trivia night on Tuesdays, so it’s a great spot to hang out even beyond the food!

Definitely a hidden gem worth checking out.
